The excursion begins in the morning with a visit to the old fishing village of Taqah, renowned for the manufacture of Dried Sardines. Next visiting stopover is the old Taqah Castle, the former official residence of the Wali (Governor) .

Continue onto the ancient ruins of the once famous and eminent city of Sumhuram (Khor Rori). It was once an important port on the coast of Dhofar, on the ancient incense route between the Mediterranean sea, The Arabian Gulf and India. It was one of the major trading cities with frankincense and important  Mocha harbor for the shopping of Frankincens               ( UNESCO World Heritage site ).

A picturesque and scenic drive then leads you to Mirbat, the ancient and primeval capital of Dhofar and the beginning of the ‘Frankincense trail’. Amble and stroll through the streets lined with old Omani mud houses & visit the superb and brilliant twin-domed Bin Ali’s Tomb as a photo spot.

On the way back we will stop at the largest cave in the world (Teeq Cave and  Tawi Ateer Sinkhole) .Thin we’ll take pictures of the desert flower.The last step, wadi Darbat, which is famous for its waterfalls and the many camels in pasture.

Return to the hotel.

For lovers of sand and sun from our clients Arabian Seasons company made arrangement for a tourist program for several nights to the east of Dhofar and visit the area of Hasik,Natif Water Mountain and Sadah both at the coast, And to stand on some archaeological sites which is not known to many .

Also the possibility of visiting the Halaniyat Islands by boat and for the lovers of marine life we can arrange a program of diving and start experiencing watching the atolls and the fish in the sea close to Al Shuwaymiyyah .
